Medical ozone is a complementary therapy in which ozone gas, mixed with oxygen in a defined proportion, is used in a controlled way. At our clinic it is planned by our ozone-certified physician, always following a medical assessment.
What is it?
Medical ozone therapy uses an oxygen–ozone mixture produced by a special device, with its concentration precisely adjusted. In Türkiye, ozone therapy falls under the Ministry of Health regulation on Traditional and Complementary Medicine Practices (GETAT) and may be performed only by physicians holding an ozone certificate.

How is it applied?
The method most often used at our clinic is major autohaemotherapy. A small amount of blood is drawn from a vein in your arm into a sterile, closed system, brought into contact with an oxygen–ozone mixture at the prescribed dose, and returned to you through the same line. All kits are sterile and single-use. Only your physician decides which method is used, at what dose and how often.
What happens in a session?
The application takes place in a quiet room, in a comfortable chair, and lasts about 45–60 minutes including preparation. You may feel a slight prick when the line is placed; the rest of the procedure is usually comfortable. A healthcare professional stays with you throughout the session.
Who is it considered for?
It may be planned for adults looking for a complementary therapy as part of their holistic programme, following a medical assessment and the necessary laboratory tests. Ozone therapy is not offered as a treatment for any disease.
Points to note
Ozone therapy is not performed in people with G6PD enzyme deficiency (favism); where required, this test is requested before the application. In conditions such as pregnancy, uncontrolled hyperthyroidism, bleeding disorders and the use of blood thinners, a recent heart attack and severe anaemia, the application is not performed or depends on the physician’s decision. Ozone gas is never administered by inhalation. Ozone therapy does not replace medical treatment.
