Think of a cut apple turning brown when exposed to air. Our cells face a similar burden when they use oxygen.
What is oxidative stress?
Every day, as our cells produce energy using oxygen, reactive by-products called free radicals are formed. Our body is equipped with an antioxidant defence system against them. When the balance between these two sides is disturbed, the resulting state is called oxidative stress.

What does FRAS 5 measure?
- Free-radical load. How intense the attack is.
- Antioxidant capacity. How strong your protective shield is.
How is it done?
A small blood sample taken from the fingertip is analysed in the device within a few minutes.
How is it used?
The results guide the preparation of your nutrition protocol and lifestyle recommendations. Repeated at the start and end of the programme, they make it possible to track change.
Which programmes include it?
Following a physician’s assessment, this measurement can be planned as needed as part of the longevity assessment and one-month programmes.

Other measurement methods
- Dark-field microscopy. Examination of a single drop of blood in its living state, without staining. Explore
- DNA analysis. A personal guide showing your genetic tendencies relating to nutrition, exercise and metabolism. Explore
- Telomere measurement. Measurement of telomere length, one of the researched markers of cellular ageing. Explore
- Epigenetic test. Shows how your lifestyle is reflected in the way your genes work, together with biological age markers. Explore
- OligoScan. A needle-free mineral and heavy-metal screening taken from the palm of the hand in a few minutes. Explore
- Biothermology. Assessment, by mapping heat distribution across the body, of the thermoregulatory response. Explore
- Spiroergometry. Determining personalised training zones by measuring oxygen use during exercise. Explore
Frequently asked questions
How long does the FRAS 5 oxidative stress measurement take?
