Acupuncture comes from a tradition thousands of years old. Electroacupuncture combines this tradition with a modern touch: a gentle, controlled stimulus applied to the needles.
What is it?
Electroacupuncture is performed by applying a low-intensity electric current to fine, sterile, single-use acupuncture needles placed at specific points. Through the needles, the current delivers a gentle, rhythmic stimulus to the tissues.
In Türkiye, acupuncture may be performed only by certified physicians and at authorised centres, under the Ministry of Health regulation on Traditional and Complementary Medicine Practices (GETAT).

How is it applied?
Your physician first assesses your complaint and health history and determines the points to be used. Once the needles are in place, a low-intensity current is applied through a small device. The intensity is adjusted to your comfort.
What happens in a session?
A session lasts about 30 minutes. The needles are very fine; you may feel a slight prick as they are inserted. When the current is applied, you feel a mild tingling or vibration. Most people describe the session as relaxing.
Who is it considered for?
It may be planned, following a physician’s assessment, for adults with a high stress load, those with musculoskeletal complaints and those looking for a complementary method as part of their holistic programme.
Points to note
It is not performed, or depends on the physician’s decision, for people with a pacemaker, during pregnancy, for people with bleeding disorders and for those taking blood thinners. Electroacupuncture does not replace medical treatment.
